The Prayer Blanket Ministry began at St. Luke in 2004 and symbolizes a faith-sharing community’s covering of prayer for the individual who receives it.
Volunteers in this ministry dedicate their time to sew lap size blankets which will be given to people who are either sick or going through a difficult time in their life, all while committing themselves to pray for the recipient.
Each blanket is blessed by one of our priests.
Every person who receives a prayer blanket is put on a prayer list and lifted up in prayer weekly.
This ministry is supported by the generosity of the many people in our community who have given or received blankets themselves. Monetary donations are used for the purchase of materials for the blankets.
Volunteers in this ministry may be involved in one or more ways: Cutting and/or sewing the fabric, washing, ironing, folding and tagging of the blankets or delivering the blankets.
